Welcome back to part 2 of the write-up. Let’s continue where we left off.

Who was there ?

So, seated around the table were a few solicitors, a couple of wealth management people, a mentor, new and small business owners, some people in-between jobs and deciding what to do next, a branding professional and me; a project manager and SEO specialist within the web development services area.

Selective Networking

This in flow brings me to why I suggested selective networking in part 1. As you will see from above, the mix of people not just by race but by vocation as well was so diverse, and to me, both these facets are an absolute plus, but it then becomes clear that not everyone’s skills and capabilities can be a sort of chemistry with all present there. It’s like trying to have chemistry with every person you meet on a date, that’s just not possible.

Introductions

So, once you have a bit of a grounding at the event, it’s very essential to introduce yourself to all present there and knowingly important to know what the other persons’ expertise is, in my case, making it clear I come from the web development services industry, as this will allow you to funnel out people who may have a significance to your industry of work, if at all both parties could be mutually beneficial to one and other and be able to have some sense of a click, too. Is why I suggested selective networking and this applies even more so at events that have a much larger turn out of people attending as it then even more difficult to get to know each and every one well.

The speaker

To shed some light about the speaker, his name is Daniel Rhodes and he has been a in the branding industry for over 20 years, having worked for multiple agencies and now, an established branding consultant. He spoke of the different facets of branding and how branding has evolved over the last couple of decades.

He then shed light on the different facets of branding and provided valuable insights into how big brands work at it, initiating branding efforts with their intent of their message which is known as a true-line and how that evolves into a much more simplified and shorter tag line. This was very interesting to say the least and gave all of us some much required knowledge. In culmination, I was happy to have attended this networking event which allowed me to meet many new and interesting people with a potential to work with some that may require some web development services.

I shall be attending the next one in a months’ time and needless to say, I shall keep all you good people updated.
